IPN works for pay now button, but not for subscriptions

This is bizarre. Paypal says they're sending IPN's to a button created for subscriptions, but the server isn't receiving them. However, I do receive IPN's from buy now buttons. I looked in my button setup and the only mention of IPN is if you need paypal to create user accounts for you, which I don't.

I've tested IPN in our sandbox environment with a subscription and I'm receiving the IPN data for a subscription payment and subscription creation.
