I spoke with a customer support rep today about the transaction types in the All Transactions export from the Reports section in PayPal.
Considering they didn't have good documentation, I wanted to share briefly the events for how a transactions looks. Here is the sequence of transaction events that happen when you use a debit card for a transaction.
1) General Authorization - Starts the authorization process for a transaction
2) Account Hold for Open Authorization - Places a temporary hold on the account for the funds to be debited
3) General PayPal Debit Card Transaction - Performs the transaction with the debit from the vendor using the debit card
4) Reversal of General Account Hold - Reverses the hold and finalizes the transaction
Hopefully this is helpful for anyone. Please let me know if you can confirm this sequence to be accurate and is the right events with corresponding descriptions.
