refund 'held' 9 days after original payment sent

I bought an item and paid for it on 20 September. When I received it, it was faulty so have returned it for a refund.  The seller issued the refund on 28 September and the refund is 'held'.  I have just read up it takes 5-7 days for the buyers money to reach paypal, but my refund was issued on the 8th day.

Also my ebay & paypal accounts are not showing any refund yet - is this correct.  I know the £ sign changes when a full or partial refund is issued, but is this the case when a refund is pending?  As I have no way of knowing if the refund has been issued or not, other than the sellers word (I am not disputing she has refunded me - yet)

If you can't see the refund in your transaction history how do you know it is being held??

Does the transaction show as refunded in your transaction history at all?

the seller told me it was showing on her account as held, there is nothing other than paid showing on my account.

also I have just remembered that the payment was made from my paypal balance not from my bank account.

Sorry but if she had refunded it would be showing in your transaction history with "temporary hold" by it.

I don't think your seller has refunded. Are you near to the 45 day limit to raise a dispute?

I thought I should have got some sort of notification to say I had a refund pending, I think she is either playing for time or pulling a fast one?

I already opened a dispute as soon as she took a while to respond to my emails whehn I told her the phone was faulty, and have to wait till the 4th Oct to escalate.  Think I will ring paypal tomorrow to see if they can confirm if a refund has been issued or not.
