I bought an item from gumtree for £45 and did not receive the item so I opened a dispute and the seller didn't respond so I escalated to a claim and the seller responded with a tracking number, but I tried it on the Royal Mail tracking site and it says "The reference number does not use the correct format. Please check and try again." so it must be a fake so now PayPal say "Please review the information and let us know how you would like to proceed." so what do I do now??

Hi there antonia878787,
Welcome to the community!
The quick answer is just to wait!
If it is a fake tracking number then this will become very clear to our Claims Department and they would close the case in your favour. The responsibility of delivery is down to the seller and not you. So they have to prove you have the goods.
I hope this answers your question
