I was given a refund on the 2nd of october and the payment has left my bank account before this date but for some reason paypal have placed my refund on a temp hold!! I wouldnt complain if it was only a few pound but im talking £130 that i need to buy a new phone, how long are they going to keep it??????
The seller probably refunded you from funds in their bank account and not in their paypal balance.
So you have to wait for those funds to clear through to paypal and then the hold is removed and your account credited.
Although if you funded the payment with a debit card it will automatically go back to your bank account but takes about 7 days AFTER being marked as completed.

Was the original payment you made a direct debit payment from your bank?
If so, then this is the reason for the temporary hold, funds take 5-7 working day to clear from your bank to PayPal. Even though you may see them leaving your bank account this timeframe can still apply for them to reach PayPal.
Your refund is released as soon as we receive the original funds so it wont take any longer then 5-7 working from the date you made the payment.
