Refunds and non delivery

I use PAYPAL all the time and have never had a problem however I placed an order from AMERICAN CHOPPERS and had not recieved the items in three months. When I raised the concern with PAYPAL I was informed that if after 45 days if I had not raised a report I was not able to seek assistance. This seems a little harsh as I was waiting for the product to arrive, In the end I had to engage a Lawyer to contact the supplier for a refund. The supplier has agrreed to this but to date the credit has not appeared in my paypal account. My bank has been much more helpfull than paypal, as all I seem to get are indian call centres and the run around. So if your item is not delivered on day 44 raise the matter with paypal, if enough people do this then perhaps they will adjust their policy to protect the buyer for non delivery.

1. Its best to read  the small section on buyer protection before you start buying. Then you would know about the 45 days limit and have been able to open a dispute in time. Paypal give  you some buyer protection but it is up to all of us to check that we are covered by that protection.

2. If you had funded your paypal payment with a credit card then you could still have filed a chargeback but directly via your c.c. company for a refund.

3. And the final bit of good news is that from June 17th paypal have changed their policy and you can now file up to 180 days instead of 45. I think this is to cut down the number of people going direct to their credit cards but it is good for buyers.
