Refund Pending

Hello,

I have recently bought something from ebay and unfortunately, the seller didn't have the item and send me a refund on the 26th of October. I have received an email from : "service(at)paypal.co.uk" stating that refund has been issued and in my paypal account the refund appears in history but the status is pending until xx of November

can you please tell me whats going on?

Never bothered me. Without their buyer protection a lot of folks may not get refunds in the first place so waiting a few days has never been an issue for most folks.

I recently bought my sons main christmas present from ebay, the present never got to my address. After a battle with the parcel company I was then I told I could have my refund from the seller. Trouble is my refund is still pending (even thou its been 7 days) and I cant get another present until this money has cleared. I have 7 days left to get my refund cleared through paypal and get another present for my son. is there anyway of making the process quicker so I dont have a dissappointed son on christmas morning

To add something to this discussion from a slightly different perspective - I am a seller who has sent a refund to a buyer, but because there were no funds in my paypal account it was refunded as an e-cheque to the buyer, which I was told at the time would take up to 10 days to to clear (currently pending).  I was not happy with this delay to the buyer as I understand they would probably want their money back ASAP, so I went to my bank account and transferred enough money instantly from my bank account to my paypal account to cover the refund, but it remains a 'pending e-cheque' even though my account has a positive balance well above what the refund would cost me.

As both a buyer and seller on Ebay I am dismayed at the potential grievances that are caused by this - as a buyer I want my money back as soon as possible if there is a problem, and as a seller I want the buyer to be appeased as soon as possible.  Paypal currently makes it more difficult for the latter to be achieved, although I have noticed that if my Paypal account funds are insufficient to pay the Ebay monthly sller fees at the time of extraction these are automatically taken from my bank account without any of the 10 day delays....

 A seller can only issue a refund via funds in their paypal balance or an echeque.

So if its an echeque it has to clear through from the sellers bank account to paypal and then it is credited to the buyer and the hold lifted.

This is because paypal don't "refund in advance" like they do when you pay for an item.

If you have already refunded and an echeque generated you can't change the procedure and then pay from your balance.

I think what paypal are doing is keeping the funds in there account and accumulating interest on the money pending if a refund is made then why is it not sent immediately like when you purchase a item I'm going through a refund at the minute and paypal took the money on the 21st of August and it's ment to clear on the 29th august. It's not acceptable really they already have charges on you using paypal and yet they are still withholding my refund Not impressed at all

So I was issued a refund from a friend (not even a sale of goods, this was purely a 'can you lend me some money' but then he realsied he would be fine without so issued a refund less than half hour after I sent it. This was the 2nd of jan. Paypal said it's pending until 9th jan. Am I being optomisitc to expect it back in my paypal funds today?
