Monarch Airlines refund

I paid for a return flight on Monarch via Paypal on 3rd Jan 2017.  As it is over 180 days am I unable to make a claim?  I cannot get through to anyone in Customer Services to ask as the automated system does not cover this query.

Yes I realise that but BBC website reported that PayPal may take the circumstances of Monarchs collapse into consideration for payments made over 180 days ago. If they don't I will claim on my travel insurance but don't really want to lose £95 excess.

PayPal have just sent me an email saying my case is being esculated so fingers crossed. If no luck I'll have to claim on insurance and lose the £95 excess.

Then why message them? Just open a dispute for non receipt via the resolve a problem link lower left of your paypal summary page > put in what has happened and escalate to a claim.

Why?? They give you buyer protection up to 180 days. Why would they change that policy just for you and other Monarch customers when they don't for other customers?

Its not covered because yhe booking was made in Jan 2017 for three return flight tickets this weekend. That means its more than 180 days since the booking for the flights was made. That is why we are Stuffed.

Because this is an extraordinary situation, and the service hasn’t been received yet. It’s not like we’ve bought a pair of shoes and they’re not right, this is for a service that a lot of people will be outside of the 180 day limit because they book holidays in advance Monarch even offered a £10 discount if booked through PayPal. It’s a poor show

But you chose to use paypal knowing that their buyer protection was only for 180 days and you chose to pay beyond where that protection would apply.

And you equally presumably chose not to fund your paypal payment with a credit card that would have covered you longer than 180 days.

Maybe we aren't all as knowledgable as you obviously are.

Not really, when i started buying I read the short section on buyer protection on Ebay and Paypal.

When I started selling I read the short section on seller protection on Ebay and Paypal.

You become knowledgable by reading !!

And I ALWAYS fund my paypal payments via a credit card.

You have to look out for yourself in this world.
