How long will "Held Refunds" take to be repaid if I cancel my Paypal account?

Has anyone researched cancelling a Paypal account and the effect on "Held Refunds".

I am currently waiting on a refund being released and will cancel my account once it is through. What I would like to know is if Paypal are in any way obliged to make the refund and balance the account immediately upon closing?

I would defo not close it until the refunds are processed, in fact its unlikely paypal will let you close your account if transactions / refunds are pending.
