I've recently bought an item worth £150 via an e-cheque and quickly found out the seller was a scammer. When I found out, I told him outright and he then cancelled my e-cheque/order. I'm wondering though, how long will it take for the refund process to begin, if at all, as the £150 has been taken out of my bank account. Normally you would see "Refunded" instead of "Cancelled" for a payment on Paypal if the seller has cancelled your order, so I'm a bit confused.
Well he can't refund something he has not received yet.
As it was an echeque then you would need to wait for the echeque to clear through to the seller before he could refund it and that could take 5-7 days.
So he cancelled the ''pending'' payment that had not cleared through to him, when it clears through to paypal as its cancelled it would be credited to your paypal account balance.
