Cancelling payments made by mistake.

Hey, so I was buying something and the guy gave me an incorrect email twice before he typed the correct one, I made payments to both the incorect emails then cancelled them, how long does it take to get the money back, neither of the emails exist or have paypal accounts attached. They are just on pending now. The problem is alone they aren't that much, about £150, but two of them plus the correct payment, that's about half a months paycheck out of my account on one day. So i need the £300 incorrect back asap for things like food.

You were lucky, you may have lost the money if those email addresses belonged to someone.

When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal credit the seller for you and then start the process of uploading your funds to paypal from your funding source.

This is done so you get your item more quickly.

So when you cancel that payment those funds can't do a u-turn > they have to process through to paypal who will then either return them to your funding source (if you paid with a debit or credit card), or credit your paypal balance (if it was funded from your balance or instant bank transfer), but that takes a few days and sometimes up to a week.
