Walmart.com Refund Still Not Showing After 7 Days

I placed an order for three items via Site-to-Store on Walmart.com on 12/7/2011 (Innotab, car charger & headphones). Two of the items (Innotab & charger) were available for immediate pickup on 12/7, the other item had to be ordered. I went to pick up the two items on 12/7 - unfortunately the Walmart associate had pulled the wrong item (my Innotab was not in stock) - I could only pick up the car charger. The associate cancelled my order and said a refund would be issued via PayPal. The refund still hasn't shown up - not even as pending - in my PayPal account. I've filed a dispute for a refund for the Innotab. Yesterday I received an email from Walmart that the 3rd item of my order was available for pickup in store until 12/26. This morning I receive an email from Walmart that the time to pick up the 3rd item had expired and this portion of the order was cancelled as well and a refund would be issued via PayPal. Again - PayPal has no record of the refund - pending or otherwise. I can get no assistance through Walmart.com's customer service. I've made numerous phone calls, only to find I've been speaking to the wrong department/person and to be transferred to yet another incorrect party. I've received responses to my numerous emails regarding this issue, but the replies are canned/scripted and have little to do with my actual issue. I have received no reply from PayPal other than the automated reply to the dispute I filed. There are no updates on the dispute, either...other than I need to wait but if I wait too long the dispute will default to the seller.

As it stands I've paid $108 for a $9 car charger. These items were meant to be a Christmas present for our 4 year old learning-disabled daughter. With one of us long-term unemployed money is tight, so we can't replace these items without the refund from Walmart. I'm fairly certain she will be extremely disappointed to find Santa brought her a useless car charger for Christmas 😕

Any insight into the current Walmart/Paypal refund process would be appreciated. I've received a refund from Walmart via paypal in the past - the refund immediately showed as a pending transaction on my PayPal account, though it did take six calendar days for it to become available (only then could I begin the process to transfer it to my account).

Google search has many instances of similar situations - with no resolution noted. I seriously doubt I will feel comfortable using PayPal for anything other than eBay purchases going forward (...if only eBay allowed other options, such as Google checkout, I'd abandon PayPal entirely).

Best regards,
