So I'm guessing that the problem that I am having with getting my refund put back into my paypal account is happening to a lot of others!!!!! I purchased a pair of shoes from ebay on the 16th. On the 19th the seller contacted me and said that one of the shoes was damaged so she was going to refund the money. I told her to refund the money on the 19th, and she did. That's not the problem.....the problem is.....It is exactly 4 days till Christmas and I need to order another pair of shoes, but until paypal takes the temporary hold off of my refund I won't have the money to purchase another pair of shoes!!!!!!! If paypal can front the money to the seller in order to get them paid in a timely manner, then they should be able to front the money to me, so that I can order another pair of shoes!!!!! This is the first and last time I will ever attempt to purchase something as a Christmas gift over the internet using paypal!!!!! This has been an awful experience!!!!!

PayPal is ripping off their customers by placing holds on refunds. If they can instantly take money from our linked accounts for payments - then they most certainly instantly refund our money for cancelled transactions.

I just find it amusing how quickly they can GET our money transferred FROM the bank TO the vendor or themselves, but to go in reverse is as slow as snails moving on super glue. It is a horrible situation. Just make sure you transfer that money (once it does show up in your paypal account) to your bank asap. Then you will have to wait an addition 3-5 working days for the money to re-enter its place of easily accessed origin. GRRRRRR...

My refund came through the day after I posted here. I agree with other posters that there is no excuse for these delays, however.

Agreed. It was greased lightning when the money went to the vendor. Now, it's projected to take days, maybe weeks for the refund. Enjoy the interest you're making PayPal. It will be the last time for one of my transactions.

wow 6 pages and they are still taking way to long to issue refunds. Like many have said. Why is it that the money can be sent instantly to someone else but when refund is issued it takes days? Ill just keep waiting for my refund i guess

PayPal takes your money out of your account instantly and holds all incoming amounts. They then have the audacity to not send the money back to your bank account for days. This is so they can have the float on all this money, which even in this low interest rate environment has to amount to a staggering amount of interest for them considering how many people use Pay Pal and Ebay.
In my particular case. I paid a large merchant for two of the same transactions neither of which went thru at the merchant and the merchant refunded me right away. Both payments / refunds are being held by Paypal for an unforeseen amount of time and when they finally hit my Paypal account I have to go thru a whole process to get it back into my bank account. This has to be illegal and is definitely a SCAM. No matter what Paypal says they have my money and they just do not want to give it back for a while so they can make something off the float.
If there are others, and I am sure there are by reading some of the posts here, there are many, we should band together and contact the authorities, regulators, and start a class action lawsuit.
Please indicate your level of interest by answering and we can figure out how to proceed. I will be calling the NYS Attorney General's office today to get a legal opinion and start the complaint process rolling.
THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree! I'm looking at June 30th for a completed .99 itunes refund, to date, July 5 still on hold . Then once that hold is cleared I'm looking another 2-3 days to transfer back to my account. Paypal needs to offer an option to have funds automatically refunded to same account funds were dispersed from. Considering how much money changes hands and refund requests processed on any given day, PayPal must be making a killing on these "floating funds".
Count me in on this class action. This has really gotta **bleep** for anyone waiting for a large refund to post.
Cordially,
M Cowan
