Delta and paypal beware

On May 17 2011 I purchased an airline ticket through the Delta.com website and used paypal direct transfer from my bank account as payment. The cost of the ticket was $491.40. On May 18th I was reviewing my purchase and saw that the fare had dropped. I contacted Delta and they said they would cancel this ticket and refund my money. I was then told to repurchase a new ticket at the lower price. The new ticket was purchased on May 18th and was paid via paypal as well. On May 20th, a deduction for the first ticket  in the amount of $491.40 cleared my bank account. The second amount also cleared my bank account.  I have contacted delta 4 times and they have assured me that $491.40 was refunded to my paypal account however that is not showing in my paypal balance. The only number they can give me the cancellation number because their system does not show paypal transaction numbers for refunds. I called Paypal again this morning after speaking with the delta supervisor and a paypal rep told me to file a dispute. I tried to do that and it said that airline tickets were not eligible for this process.  So I can't even try to get my money. I got another email response to my contacting paypal today telling me to contact delta. Yeah thanks I HAVE!!!!!  It has been over 2 weeks and I really need this refund. I am getting the run around between paypal and delta. My only option left I guess is to file a fraud report with my bank against paypal. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am currently having the same problem. It has been over two weeks since Delta processed my refund. Did you ever get any resolution to your problem?

I just did. It took over a month. Here is my advice: call paypal and have them do a 3 way call with delta. Make sure you get a paypal agent in disputes or claims. A general paypal agent can't help you and never understands that airline tickets are not disputable. I literally called delta and paypal EVERY day for 4 weeks to get this resolved. Also ask to speak with the accounting dept at delta to research where your money went. Good luck and feel free to PM me on here if you need specific names or contact numbers. I feel like I know them all personally! Lol
