Hi

Im new to paypal and I have a chance to do a workshop in Canada. If a person paid $159 in Canadian dollars, what you the amount end op being deposited my my US bank account?

I tried all day to get an answer out of PayPal customer service but believe it or not, no one could give me an answer. I dont have a margin of error right now so I am needing to know how to anticipate what the end amount is that will be in my bank account.

As I understand it right now these are the following deductions for fees:

3.9% + .30 USD (fee for receiveing payments from outside the US)

2.9% + .30USD ( fee for receiving a payment from a credit card or a debit card)

1.0%     (currency conversion fee)

2.5%     (spread fee for currency conversion)

I have a normal, non-business account. I have never accepted money before via payPal so Im new at this.

If $159 Canadian equals $156 USD as of this weekend, what is the amount that goes into my account? No one seems to know. Are there any other hidden fees or surprises i need to know about? If you have experience with type of transaction, please let me know.

thanks,

plaing

I believe that it's 2.9% + .30 , plus the 1% ross border fee + the 2.5% rate spread plus the actual exchange between $CDN and USD, whatever that all works out to be.

A word of caution - don't cut things so close - you ought to hae some wiggle room so you don't have to sweat the small isues that pop up.
