I just thought I'd point you in the right direction here. Adaptive Payments are actually deprecated and can no longer be onboarded with. That means, you'll have to use the PayPal Commerce Platform for Marketplaces. The "split" payment works in this case by having one "Partner" who processes the payment on behalf of another merchant, but then also takes a platform fee of their choosing. In reality, it is similar to Adaptive payments, just the "split" is determined by how much the "fee" is. You can see that "platform_fee" in an API call sample here. To get started, you'll need to apply to be a partner using this form.
