PayPal Mastercard debit card basically useless without enough money in PayPal balance.

My Spotify monthly bill is due today and I received an email that my payment failed. At the time I had exactly $1 in my PayPal balance and have more than enough in my backup source (bank account). Why PayPal didn't take that $1 and the remainder from my bank account is beyond me. However, this has been an issue ever since my account got access to "Funds Now". I'm not saying that feature is what's causing my issue, but it's mighty coincidental. I decided to load my PayPal balance at a store with more than enough cash. Once the balance updated, I "updated" (just literally retyped my info) my PayPal debit card details on Spotify. Sure enough, my payment went through. Why is this happening? I've called PayPal and every time I get are, "There are no restrictions on your account" and "Sometimes PayPal does this as a security measure" comments. This clearly is NOT the case. This is happening on EVERY purchase I make where there's not enough in my PayPal balance to cover said payment. It's super frustrating as I use my PayPal debit card for pretty much all of payments. Any help is much appreciated. TYIA.

Hi @monotoonz,

I'm sorry to hear that the PayPal Debit MasterCard did not allow the automated payment to go through. The security system the card uses to evaluate transactions may decline one payment and allow a different one under different circumstances. I regret that you've had this experience.
