Charged twice on pay in 4 but different amounts

I used PayPal pay in 4 to order something online and I got an email saying it went through so I checked my bank account and it said $9 was taken out, then I went and checked my email and it said that it should’ve been $15.25 so I thought maybe it was just cause it was from a UK website and the amount is different but then a few moments later I got another email saying first payment went through so I checked my bank account and it had both $9 and $15.25 taken out of my account but on my PayPal account it only has the full amount of the product and the pay in 4 amounts which is the $15.25 so nowhere is there a $9 payment and I’m just wondering if I need to dispute that (which I tried to do but it didn’t have the $9 amount for me to dispute) or if it’s just an authorisation thing and I’ll get that refunded back eventually I would really like some answers thank you

I am having a similar issue. I sent $400CAD to someone and paypal debited my account 4 times for the same transaction on 2 Nov 2023. I complained and on 16 November, they refunded only $400CAD to my account. They do not seem bothered about investigating complaints. They only have a mindless and robotic response to customer issues.

Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. I'm sorry to hear there's been some confusion regarding a recent payment.

@Mickrex, it sounds like there may have been a pending authorization placed. You can read more about that process here: Why is there a pending authorization shown in my PayPal activity for my Pay in 4 Transaction?

If you see that pending authorization past the 1-5 business days stated in that article, please reach out to our Customer Support teams for assistance.

@profeazy, it does sound like you may have a similar issue as well. However, yours is most likely placed by the bank, which may take up to 30 days to be released. Here's an article you may find more useful: What is an authorization and how can I cancel it?

I hope that helps!
