What to do if a Pay In 3 payment is being authorised and the item I ordered has gone out of stock?

Tried to place an order for limited edition merch using the Pay in 3 option, but PayPal has frozen the transaction to authorise it. The size I want the item in is no longer in stock. Am I still going to get my order or is this something I have to contact PayPal support about?

Hello @Ewyyy

Thank you for visiting the PayPal Help Community!

Sorry to hear about your recent purchase which has gone out of stock. When you attempt a payment using Pay in 3, the money will be on hold temporarily and the same will reflect as pending in your account as well as in your bank. This is called authorization. Once the merchant completes your order, the authorization will be removed and the down payment will be taken from your payment method. If the item is out of stock and the order is not completed by the merchant, the pending authorizations will get voided by 72 hours and the held amount will be released back in your account. For more information on Pay in 3 authorizations, please refer this help center article.

Best wishes,

Bindu
