PayPal Pay in 4 payment declined, what happens now?

a paypal 'pay in 4' payment was declined due to expiry date on the credit card. unable to update in time. 

Will paypal take the payment from the optional or second account instead?

or Do i need to make a manual payment?

Welcome to the Community! 

In this situation, you will need to make a manual payment. Log into your PayPal account, choose the Pay in 4 plan you want to pay and click Make a Payment. Then, you can make an unscheduled or extra payment that will be applied to that Pay in 4 plan.
