I keep getting the above message trying to pay for my ebay auction.  I have no idea why. I have my bank debit card linked to my paypal account, but the purchase just doesn't seem to want to go. I am about ready to contact the seller to see if they'll accept a money order at this point as I'm getting no joy from anyone's customer service.

i'm a seller and for the last 6-7 weeks i've had at least 6 buyers say they cannot pay me using paypal, different cards etc. I have contacted ebay and paypal who claim nothing is wrong on my side, however when the buyer contacts them, they tell them it's me with the problem. What is weird though, is that some of my buyers are able to pay other sellers but not me and i've lost out on so many sales because they simply want to cancel the order as it's tiresome trying to contact ebay and paypal. Any other sellers have this issue??? what help have you had to reolve this matter?

Hi @JIm701 and @pringle19610,

I'm sorry to hear about the transaction declines. Declines can happen for a number of reasons. Please contact customer service for troubleshooting, or have the buyers trying to pay you contact customer service.

If customer service is unable to pinpoint a specific reason for the buyers in your situation, pringle19610, it may be that there is some risk associated with the transaction that may not be present in other transactions that they're making. Many different factors are considered when it comes to that assessment, and it is not possible to narrow it down to specific possibilities. If there are any risk factors that you can think of that can be mitigated, that may reduce the likelihood of payment declines.

I'm sorry that you've had these experiences.

Olivia

Hmmm. Interesting that you as a seller pringle at least got a response.

The 'solution' customer service gave me was to contact the seller (after two attempts) and have them email me an invoice for the sale which I could then print, spend extra money for a moneygram from WalMart, and then snail mail that (again, extra money) to the seller.  I say two attempts because "Edgar", for whom English is obviously a second or third language, originally sent the email request for the invoice to me.

Thankfully, "Cecilia", the second customer service representative, was obviously born and raised in the good 'ol U.S.A. I say this because she had the email in my inbox from the seller within 15 minutes. She was AWESOME!

Ebay needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out why their payment system has stopped working. This is ridiculous, and a gross dissservice to buyer and seller alike. I have unlinked my ebay account and turned my paypal one into a desert. I am done using either until these problems are resolved. And no, there are no issues with either my bank or paypal. It's the link between ebay and paypal where the problem lies.

Get to work, guys.

It's beyond me how they can't pin point what is the exact problem, however when either the seller or buyer contacts them, they are able to say it's either one of their accounts that has the problem. I spend quite a lot of time trying to sort out my ebay items and listing each week around 30-50 items and say if 20 sold, at least 13 will have an issue paying me. I'm so dissapointed that such large platforms can take fees and bill you at the end of the month or quickly side with lying buyers who claim they've not received their item, however when there is a fault on their end that affects both parties, they do absolutely nothing to help other than pin point blame to each site user. I'm about fed up with this as im losing sales, but i need the issue resolved as i rely on the extra income to support my family. Somebody please HELP!!!!
