Hello,
I just received an email from PayPal stating...
"Because you added your PayPal account to Facebook, you can now skip PayPal login when shopping on Facebook and Messenger apps. There's nothing you need to do to set this up. Simply use PayPal checkout like you always have. To ensure the security of your account, we'll occasionally ask you to enter your user name and password. You can view, edit or cancel this feature by logging into your account and going to Settings > Payments > Manage automatic payments."
Back in Feb of 2014, I did use PayPal once to pay for an in app purchase for a Facebook game I used to play, but never again after that one time purchase. I went to my Facebook settings/manage payments to remove PayPal as a payment option. I checked my PayPal pre-approved payment settings and Facebook was now inactive.
My question is, why would PayPal send me this email 5 1/2 years after I used them once for a Facebook payment? I thought it might be a scam email, but I hovered my cursor over the "Help & Contact", "Security", and "Apps" hyperlinks and they all had the "https" before the web address. Has anyone else encountered this?
Thanks,
Darren

- Go to Facebook/Settings/Payments/Account Settings.
- In the Payments Methods field, if your PayPal account is connected to Facebook, you can remove it there.
- Once you've done that, go to your PayPal account, click the Settings icon, and then go to Payments/Manage Automatic Payments. Select Show Inactive and see if Facebook is listed.
The above should disconnect your PayPal account from Facebook, but I'm still going to call PayPal tomorrow to ask why the email was sent now when the last time I used them on Facebook was over 5 years ago.

I got this e-mail and was also concerned. I've never linked my Paypal and Facebook accounts.
But I think it might be because I used Paypal in the Oculus store - that shows up as "Facebook Technologies, LLC" in the payments list.

I called PayPal customer support and they informed me that the email was legit and sent by them. They are notifying all of their users that have used PayPal as a payment option for Facebook and any Facebook affiliated companies regardless of how long ago you used them. If you don't want PayPal to be used as a payment option for Facebook, you can follow the instructions I provided in my previous reply.
Thanks
