Payment to wrong/nonexistent address

I sent a payment to an incorrect address. However, the address which I sent it to, I know for a fact isn't a real address (it's a school email format which is very specific and when I tried to email it, the email bounced) so I suppose the account which the money is going to also isn't real!
Any advice on what to do as the payment hasn't bounced or anything and says it has been completed - of course, as said above, I cannot contact the accidental recipient to ask for the money!
Thanks,
Will

Hi @Will10101,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community Forum!
If the transaction is showing as Completed in your Account Activity, this means that there is a PayPal account linked to the email address in question. In that case, if you sent the payment as Goods and Services, you can dispute it within 180 days from the date of the payment. Here is how.
I hope this helps!
Martina
