"Your payment was not processed" site i bought from says something different

I made two purchases from Aliexpress today by connecting a serve card to Paypal. Afterwards I received 4 emails, 2 from Alie stating that my payment went through and 2 from Paypal saying "We are unable to process your payment initiated on [date] for [total]" and pretty much nothing else. There's nothing in my activity and when I check my transactions on the card itself there's none from Paypal or Aliexpress. I used the same card on Amazon last night and it worked fine. Is this an issue with Paypal ? If so how can I fix it ? I'd like to avoid any disputes for not being able to pay for my items.
