ask the sender to see if they can cancel the payment and not to send any money until you get your email fixed. since you were not able to confirm the email address because the confirmation email went to an invalid email address, the sender should be able to cancel payment. to fix your email address, enter the correct email address, make it your primary and confirm it. then ask the sender to send money again. if they can't cancel payment, and the money is not claimed in 30 days, it will go back to their account.
another way would be to establish the email address without the dot and see if you can have the confirmation email resent and confirm that way.
