Using PayPal on Aliexpress

Tried to buy an item on Aliexpress using PayPal. The seller said they accepted PayPal. When I went to checkout, I was redirected to the PayPal account website.Logged into the account.( My card was updated and current. )  It redirected me to a screen that said my cc needed updating. Became suspicious and stopped the transaction. Did that twice to other sellers to see if it was standard procedure. Called PayPal and they didn't have an explanation. Called PayPal mastercard and they didn't have an explanation. Spoke with someone at Aliexpress and they had no explanation as well. Anyone else had this problem?

As a follow up to my problem with PayPal on Aliexpress. It turned out that I had to update another card that had expired.It was the one I had not used in years.After updating that card,the problem went away. Hope that helps....
