Unable to use PayPal balance when adding account to an online service

Hello. I'm trying to add my PayPal account to Playstation. The problem is, there is only an option to add my mastercard. 


If I remember correctly, paypal balance should be on there right?

And since my card has insufficient funds, it will always return an error on the PlayStation site whenever I try to make a payment. Because I don't think it's trying to use my PayPal balance.. my preferred payment method is already set to my PayPal balance btw. 

If someone could give me some insight , that'd be great.

For digital / virtual / high risk transactions paypal will ask you to fund your paypal payments via a card and you won't get the option to use your paypal balance.
