Trouble making payment to ebay seller

I have purchased an item on ebay but each time I try to pay for the item via PayPal, the payment goes into Pending mode and the seller cannot access it.  I have cancelled the transaction and retried and the same thing has happened.  The seller is aware but seems unable to throw any light on the issue.  What should I do?

If you were able to cancel a payment it means the seller made a mistake with the email address on their auction and could not accept your payment.

TELL YOUR SELLER TO DO THIS.
Go to ebay and click on 'sell' put in anything (as you aren't going to actually list anything) until you get to the main page > scroll down near the bottom and where it says payment methods check the email address that is on that page, is there a spelling mistake or old one?

Many thanks for this tip - makes perfect sense.  I'll send the instructions to the seller and see if this resolves the issue.
