Sneaky PayPal started using my checking account for purchases

I transferred few hundred bucks to my PayPal checking account just to put aside, but then I realized that it started using my cash instead of my credit cards for purchases. After some research, I realized that there is a toggle button saying "use Paypal cash balance first and it was ON"  Very sneaky PayPal, why that should be ON by default?!

So TODAY I specifically turned off that toggle purchased something and yes it also charged my PayPal balance. Do you have similar stories?

Why sneaky? Makes no difference to paypal which funding source you use to pay a seller, fees are the same.

No! If I use my credit cards for my Paypal purchases then my CC charges a fee of around 3% but PP wants you to use your checking account which has no fee, but yes for the seller it's the same fee! google some topics on how PayPal makes money!
