Sent Payment using Bank instead of Paypal balance but balance used anyway.

I needed to send a payment to an associate and did not have enough in my Paypal balance to do so, - I clicked "send money" from Bank Account (because I had enough in the bank) -but when the payment went out I noticed my Paypal balance went to Zero. It appears the payment was divided between my balance and my Bank account. Did I miss something? Was my Paypal balance amount used to "cover" part of the payment and will eventually return when the funds are released from my bank account? Or was my Payment by default divided between my Paypal balance and my Bank?

Paypal would have debited your paypal balance and the 'remainder' would be taken from your linked bank account.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you for the information. I guess I was misled by the actual wording on that page - "How Do You Want To Pay?" and you place a check mark next to the choices (if you have other methods attached) - I assumed the method I placed a check mark next to was where the payment would come from. I choose a bank account - thinking it would not use my Paypal Balance. I guess it should say "How Do You Want To Pay ALONG WITH or IN ADDITION to your Paypal Balance?" Lesson learned.
