Scam??

So i have a boat for sale and this man (Wittmann <removed>) was intersted in it. He told me he wanted me to pay through paypal because he is working on an oil rig or something like that (on seas), and he comes back on 20th October. He said that he could pay only thorugh paypal because of that reason, after I suggested it is better thorugh some bank transsfer or something related to my bank because i am not familiar wiht these payment methods. I got and email form paypal that said that i have to pay the shipping company from my pocket through MoneyGram and the paypal payment form him will cover that, and until i send a photo of the receipt the payment is on hold. He never seen the boat personally, this happened in one day. I am calling for the community's help on this one because, as I said, am i new in this area. Please read the emails that I attached and tell me if they seem real to you.

I also found that the operator from the emails (Richard <removed>) has done scams in the past and the buyers name is the name of some german serial killer from the 1800s 😄

Hi @FlorinAc,

Thank you for your post. I'm very glad to hear that you had suspicion regarding the email you received. Please take a look at this article for information about common scams, and this article about fake emails.

I hope this helps!

Hi @FlorinAc,

I'm sorry I didn't make it clearer in my earlier reply. The situation you describe is a classic scam scenario, which is outlined in the first link I provided, called an overpayment scam. PayPal would not send an email directing you to pay money through another payment service to receive your funds in PayPal.
