I tried paying for car insurance using my PayPal business account card and the payment was declined. The money has been taken from my account and is displayed as pending + temporary hold.
I rang the insurance company and they told me the payment hadn't gone through.
Will paypal automatically return the amount to my balance after a few days or will I need to call in?
When you cancel a payment or they are declined then those funds can't do a u-turn > they have to process through to paypal who will as the transaction was cancelled return them to your funding source (if you paid from your bank account or with a card), or credit your paypal balance (if it was funded from that balance), but that takes a few days and sometimes up to a week.
