Payment received, does not show in Balance or Wallet

I received  a payment 13 days ago and I received an email message from PayPal that it was received and the successful payment appears in Summary.

However, the amount does not appear in Wallet or Balance. 

 

The currency is correct, it was sent to the correct email address and received by PayPal (all evidenced by the email message and the payment showing in Summary). All systems are shown as Operational in the PayPal system status.

 

What other magic do I need to perform to unlock these funds so I can use them?

Sorry but why would you send a payment without being paid first?

Are you sure you were not scammed, you say it appears in your summary, is that just a money request or invoice?

Thanks for responding. Your answer does not make sense to me, but I finally figured it out and there was no scamming involved.

I did not send a payment, rather a friend sent money to me.

 

It turns out that I missed a setting whereby PayPal automatically applied the balance from this payment to two subsequent purchases I made and thus there was no balance showing afterward.
