Payment on Hold - Recipient

I received a payment (approx. $800) from someone and it was put on hold. Why is that? Also, there was a $24.95 transaction fee.

It was an in person transaction for some furniture we were selling.

If the buyer sent the payment as goods and services and not as personal payment it will be placed on hold for 21 days as PayPal would just like to make sure that transactions are secured between the buyer and the seller. In order for your money to be released you need to upload a tracking number. If no shipment materialized like it was picked up or delivered personally, what you can do is to reach out to the buyer and advise to login to their PayPal account and go to their activity and locate the transaction and click confirm receipt so your money will be released imnediately. For fees charged, you can visit our actual website and click on fees. I hope this helped. If you feel I have resolved your issues, leaving a kudos will be very much appreciated.

It does sound that the fee added and the hold on the payment got you really surprised.i would like to explain it to you so the next time you won't feel that way. Since the transaction was made via seller and buyer it will be subject for a Purchase Protection for the buyer. That will explain the fee. This will be in general. You did mention transaction was in person but the payment was still made under PayPal. Based on what you said the item was delivered. If so you can ask the buyer to release the funds for you via their PayPal account. They need to login and go to the actual transaction and locate confirm receipt and click yes. It will release the funds for you right away.
