Issue with ebay purchase

Hello All,

I have bought a seller refurbished laptop from a seller on ebay.

The seller sell many laptop there.

When I received the laptop, it wasn't the laptop I bought but the laptop on another listing.

I opened a case on ebay and seller agreed to do full refund.

Upon thinking about it, it is quite a hassle to send it back as I need to find somewhere to print it then go to post office which I wouldn't be able to do for atleast 2 weeks due to covid issue.

I have sent a message to the seller to see if I can instead get a partial refund.

Seller said yes and agreed to partially refund £20 however he said money is on hold and I will need to cancel my case

I checked the seller's feedback and saw some comments where he never give the refund so I am quite wary about cancelling the case

So my question is, if the only way to get the partial refund is to cancel the case, can I use the sellers message where he says he will definitely pay the money and no scammer to dispute it on paypal and get the partial refund in the event that he started ignoring me?

Thanks

Hi @xlilrookiex

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting. Please do not cancel any case until it's resolved or else, you will lose your protection. Your seller has the capability to issue a refund. Advise them to log in to their PayPal account and locate/click the payment you sent to them. At the near bottom of the page, there is an "Issue a refund" button.

If this case was not resolved with eBay, then you still have PayPal to protect you.

Again, please do not close any case that hasn't been resolved.
