Help with receiving overseas payment

Hiya,

I have several questions about receiving payments from Australia. I'm from the UK but I'm currently backpacking in Australia. I am selling my car and the person buying it wants to transfer me money via PayPal.

Firstly, I have tried to add my Australian bank account to my wallet with my Australian address but PayPal will not let me, should I just put my UK address with my Australian bank details? It's ok if I can't do this, I can easily just transfer the money from my English account to my Australian account.

Secondly, I also cannot change my phone number to my Australian phone number, will I need a phone number to receive any kind of confirmation text or code?

Finally, will there be any kind of charge for receiving Australian dollars in to a British account and converting them to to pounds?

Thank you in advanced and sorry if these questions have already been asked, I could not find anything similar in the already asked questions.

OK well firstly I would say DO NOT USE PAYPAL.

You would have zero seller protection as its a motor vehicle.

The buyer could pay you and then do a chargeback and you would have to take legal action via the small claims court to try and get your car or money back again.

Secondly there is this car scam....

They encourage you to accept a 'direct' Paypal payment but no funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails 'may' go into your junk or spam folders.

They don't quibble on cost and may also say they can't view the car as they are disabled or working abroad etc etc but they will arrange a shipping agent to collect it.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't actually have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

The 'fake' paypal email will tell you that the buyer has paid for the car + shipping costs but you must send those shipping costs to the courier/ shipping agent via western union, moneygram or walmart etc BEFORE the funds are released to you.
They are not interested in the car, they just want the western union etc funds and you will never see money in your paypal balance.
