Hello, I use a paypal button to sell a product. I need to send a confirmation email to the buyer immediatly for this I need some type of instant information to my website that an order was placed. I wanted to avoid ecommerce systems for that and do it myself, but I have trouble finding a starting point.

You can use PayPal Webhooks for this. It will send a notification to a listener that you configure, which can then use all of the data in that notice to automate tasks.
Within those docs it outlines all of the events you can subscribe to and automate tasks based on those events.
