I am a merchant accepting all my payments through my website for a Wedding Venue. Been using paypal for 4 years now. Seems like the developers at paypal are extremely ignorant and arrogant. The payment field says "price per item" and below it "1 item" field shows. For services business like mine there are no items, and there is no price per item, there is only whatever amount customer is paying at that time. I pay thousands of dollars in fees to paypal per year, and rest of the system works so great, why can't they allow us to fix the wording on these fields??
This simplest form of checkout is the most common where only 1 field is needed, that is "AMOUNT"
