OK So I added a backup funding method - the verified checking account that's on my account. Went to an ATM, to test it and see if it actually works. Tried to pull money out (there's 1 cent in my paypal account.) Declined. Went to a gas station and tried a point of sale debit transaction; declined. I thought if your balance was 0 and you tried to make a purchase, it was supposed to go through and then charge your checking account in a couple days?? Am I mistaken???? I even called PayPal and asked if I could use it at an ATM before I tried it. So yea I'm confused; all I'm getting is DECLINED. And my available backup is set at $200. If anyone can answer this, please do so!!
I have found that when using my debit card, I need to always use it as a credit card or it gets declined. It doesn't make sense because the money comes from the same place but ...........................
I've been having nothing but issues with my debit card. Half the time it doesn't work at all. Sometimes it'll only work as a credit, and sometimes it works fine as a debit. There's no rhyme or reason. Sometimes when I think it won't work because my paypal balance is low, it works fine and others like now, when I have almost $150 in there, it won't work at all as a debit or credit. It has never worked at an ATM machine. I'm so frustrated with it, and now very gun shy. It's humiliating when it's declined. And infuriating when I know there's money there. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated!! If this is an issue with something I've done or not done with my account, I want to fix it.
You need to have a balance (it seems balance manger works).
It declined on me once with Backup Funding, and they stated they stopped guaranteeing the payment if using backup funding. If you read the T&Cs, it will state that back up funding is for when your transaction is bigger than your balance.
I've had no issues since I've added funds, and used balance manager.
I have been able to get money out of Bank of America ATMs, but not Bank of the West. Usually debit works for me.
To set the backup method for the debit card, do this:
Go to 'My Account"
On the right side there will be a box that says "My Accont Tools".. click the link that says "PayPal Debit MasterCard®"
from there it should be easy to set up the back up method. i thought it would be automatic but i found out when i tried to buy something that it's not lol
