Which balances are paid off first?

Hi, I have several credit balances in the 4-month 0% interest period. I've now made a transaction using PP credit to be repaid in 12 instalments. If I set up a direct debit for the monthly instalments, which balances will they count against? How will PP know these are my 12 monthly instalments rather than payments against the interest-free balances? Cheers
