Beware- fake paypal credit support if you transpose two numbers in phone number

I was trying to call Paypal Credit to say I did not try to open a new credit account with them, in response to what I now think was a phishing letter. In calling  I transpose[Removed. Phone #s not permitted] which was number given to me by PayPal through a message, and accidentally dialed 4691 for last four digits.  The phone call was answered by the usual machine reply stuff then a person with a foreign accent came on  and asked for all of my verification information- address , full name, phone number.  I was in a rush to go to work and didn’t think too much of them asking me to spell everything. Then they asked for a credit card so they could give me a “verification code.”  This was where my hurry to leave made me blunder and although it seemed a bit funny I gave them a debit card number.  Then they asked me to repeat it to a machine.  Stupid, I know.  Once I did that the phone call ended, I did not  get a verification code, and I realized it wasn’t right.  So I called my bank and cancelled my card immediately.

It was by coincidence that I looked up the number on google and saw an issue with it, then  realized I transposed the 2 numbers, and then saw someone on Twitter saying the same thing happened to them.  I don’t want others to have the same issue I did! I do have a credit freeze placed on the three major credit reporting companies.  Is there anything else I should do to protect my identity?
