Random message to phone saying that charges of $750 to account

Keep receiving a random messages to one of our phones saying that the paypal account has been credited with a payment of  $750.00. Then a day or so later another message comes in with a message that says that the paypal account has been charged for  $750.00.

The paypal account is not often used and never been used for transactions on the phone or ever enter/hooked up to the phone, only on the computer. As far as I can tell the account is secure and not comprimised in any way.

None of the messages have been opened up or followed through like to see exactly where they would lead to if you clicked on them on the phone.

So exactly what do I need to do to get rid of the messages? Do I need to be concerned about the paypal account actually being comprimised?

Oh, last thing is that the messages only started after the last update by Samsung. Not sure if that makes a difference?

Thank you for any help on this issue.
