I seem to have a biz acct (because I had a biz eons ago), which I did not realize. As a result, when friends and family try to reimburse me, I’m generally charged a fee, because my biz status alters THIR default from friends & family to goods & services. Took me 8 months to figure it out. I’ve been trying to find out about downgrading, and I read that a biz account can ONLY be downgraded to a “premier” account, not a “personal” one, but I cannot figure out either WHY or WHAT that means. 1. Why must a biz account only downgrade to a “Premier” account instead of a “Personal” one? 2. What is the DIFFERENCE between a “Premier” account and a “Personal” account? Thank you to anyone who can articulately answer BOTH questions. I searched the archive, but could find no well articulated answer to these TWO questions.

PayPal has since merged the personal and premier accounts. So it doesn't matter whether you have a personal or business accounts these days, you can still receive commercial payments. The sender has to remember or be instructed by you to select the correct payment type when making a personal payment. The setting is located under the amount field during the payment process. Some people just send the payment and glaze over selecting the correct option.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
