Office Depot called me to verify a purchase of 900. for a computer. I did not place this. They said it came from Pay Pal. How do I contact Pay Pal? All I get are digitized responses. Do I need to cancel my credit cards associatated with this or cancel my paypal? Office Depot cancelled the order after speaking with me but I want to resolve how to prevent other transactions immediately.
Something similar happened as a private person also to us.
When you receive standard mails or only a case number nothing will happen. We informed PayPal 4 months ago, asked over 20 times for an update, but never received an answer.
Click on the transaction in your paypal account and use the 'report a problem' link at the bottom to report it as unauthorised if that is what it was.
An unauthorised transaction means that your Paypal account was hacked and used without your consent. If Paypal check IP addresses / devices etc and find that it was hacked then yes you should receive your refund.
I hope you changed your password and security questions? I hope you ran a virus scan on your computer? I would also be telling my card issuers and bank accounts company that the account was hacked so that they can keep an eye on your account OR remove the financial info involved until things are sorted.
