Recently I had to contact customer service. In order to proceed I was adked several questions to prove my idenity. One of the qustions asked was what was the age (range) of my daughter. While I should have asked at the time, how does Paypal know I have a daughter??

If you setup your account security questions and answers and that was one of your questions - that would make sense however, if you did not have that particular question - not really sure why customer service would even ask, that would be odd for sure.
