Gift cards for validation

Hello I have had people using my paypal.me to send money then asking for a gift card to send the money to me is this really need or are these people trying to scam me? Please help Thank you

Its a SCAM.

Paypal don't ask you to send anything to be able to receive funds especially gift cards / vouchers etc.
