Reference transactions just broke?

After many years of use, it appears reference transaction suddenly just broke on the API.

When we go through a subscription process, the API is now returning error 11452: "Merchant not enabled for reference transactions".

We've verified that reference transactions/subscriptions are approved on our API live account, and always have been.

This error just started today.

It appears something was just pushed live by PayPal that broke reference transactions.

Hi @Kavyar,

That's incorrect. We have subscriptions/reference transactions enabled and have so for many years, as shown in the attached screenshots.

The issue was a PayPal bug that has now been fixed: https://www.paypal-status.com/history/eventdetails/71910

Regards.

Good day @D_Syno

Thank you for posting to the PayPal community.

After reviewing the issue, it appears that the error is occurring because your account is not currently enabled for PayPal Reference Transactions. To resolve this, I highly recommend enabling Reference Transactions on your account.

In order to enable reference transactions for your LIVE accounts, we kindly request that you contact our PayPal Customer service via link -  https://www.paypal.com/smarthelp/contact-us (then choose at the bottom one of the contact methods - email or phone) who should be able to help you regarding the request.

They will be able to assist you further as they are specially trained to address this type of account inquiry.

Sincerely,

Kavya
