Keeping your name hidden from buyers....

So, my situation is a little unique. #1 I cannot get a bank account b/c of being on checksystems, and my use for paypal is not necessarily something I need to open a business for. My question is, if I am selling a service (being intentionally vague) is it possible to hide my real name from buyers? Can I use a fictitious name? If so, how? Also, I know I rec'd some $ thru paypal as an xmas gift and was able to have a check sent to me, but paypal isn't showing that as an option now that I'm creating this seperate paypal.
If not paypal, who can I do this thru? Or what terms should I be googling to find out? B/c I'm coming back empty handed.
Thanks SO much (even if the answer is sumthin' I don't wanna hear lol)!

When you send or receive money it says something similar to 'You have received a payment from John Smith'.
I was curious if it was possible to keep my name completely private from those I send money to and receive money from and instead have it show my email address or anything to keep my name hidden

I want to know the same thing. I emailed the question to Paypal but never got a response. I don't understand why it should matter if the buyer sees the name or not. If you set up a business name and the transaction is legal and agreed upon by both parties, why can't some anonymity be achieved??

Individuals with Business accounts send and receive payments under their Business name, rather than their personal name. If you're receiving payments, you may consider upgrading so that your payments would be sent/received under "Insert Your Business Name Here" PayPal will still have your personal name on file (you still have to enter it when you sign up), but the buyers won't see it on their payments.

PayPal requires that you provide accurate personal information. I don't think you can keep your name hidden from your buyers, and... I believe most payment services will have the same rules.

Yes, anonymity would be fine with me, too, but it's not really my name that needs to be hidden -- it's my e-mail address. Lots of us use more than one e-mail address. That's how we deal with unsolicited bulk e-mail known as SPAM. We have a private e-mail address which we choose to share with PayPal and a more public e-mail address for use by the general public. If someone on E-bay sells me a gizmo and they want me to send money through PayPal, then that payment should arrive from a unique Transaction_Number_99999999999999(at)paypal.com. Then, if the seller chooses to contact me, the person should reply to Transaction_Number_99999999999999(at)paypal.com which then gets forwarded to My_Real_E-Mail_Address(at)my_mail_service.com seamlessly.
