I want to link my bank account, to paypal but it is saying that the transit number or the institution number is incorrect....why is that??
the bank account is in my name and my husbands, he called the bank and got all the info and paypal is saying that it is wrong..Now what do I do..I don't have a credit card..That's why I wanted paypal so that I could get things online. Is there anything I can do?? If I make money online how would I get it out?? The bank is TD Canada Trust if that helps...

The best thing you can do is delete the banking information from your account and start from scratch again.
I am a Canadian also and also deal with TD CANADA Trust, when you input your information again, be sure you go to the bank first and ask to talk to someone who has knowledge on PayPal information and make sure when you input the information they give you that you do not put in any spaces bewteen the numbers so if the info you get says this:
Institution Number: 934
Transit Number: 011
Account Number: 4029 293 2015
You will input that into PayPal like this:
Institution Number: 934
Transit Number: 011
Account Number: 40292932915
It worked for me and it should work for you. If it doesn't, give them a call and askk the agent to input the information for you all you have to do is read it to them.
And zeros at the beginning of any sequence do count as a number do not omit them.
Hope this helps.

TWOWHEELER,
Very good advice! I just saw your other post and I must say, you really know your stuff - the bit about the zeroes is really an important piece of information. Thanks for sharing your expertise with our members, and we hope you stick around to help some more of them out. So without further ado, here's a kudos for you!
Adrian

Hi there...I had the EXACT same problem with my TD CanadaTrust Account.
Ok the problem is because how TD shows/reveals your branch/transit # isnt quite complete.
Your transit # has to be 5 digits HOWEVER when you do a branch location lookup to get your branch #(which is your transit #) TD only shows it as 4 digits long (if you are using their online TD Branch Locator). Normally people would think to just add an additional 0 to the beginning. This would be wrong for Canadians.
The last digit of the transit 5 digit transit # MUST correspond to the geographical region of your branch (normally this would be the province you are in). Each province has its own # so:
* 0 are located in British Columbia and Yukon
* 1 are located in Western Québec including Montreal and surrounding areas
* 2 are located in Ontario including Toronto and surrounding area
* 3 are located in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland excluding Labrador
* 4 are located in New Brunswick
* 5 are located in Eastern Québec including Labrador
* 6 are located in Eastern Ontario including Ottawa and surrounding area
* 7 are located in Manitoba and North-Western Ontario
* 8 are located in Saskatchewan
* 9 are located in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (?)
So if you have a 3 digit transit # then append one of th above #s at the end of it that represents your region in Canada. And the prefix the remaining 0's to the beginning. You should now have a properly formated transit # for PayPal.
But also, regarding your account #. You may have to attach the 4-digit "destination number" to your account #. Check out your bank statement and whatever your account # shows there then use that. For me, online it shows only the standard 7-digits for my account # but for my paper statement it appends a 4-dight destination number with a hypen ... this is the destination number and so i had to include the whole thing (11-digit account #) for PayPal.

The best way to get the correct information is to just visit your branch, and talk to a teller about all of the necessary information you need and have them write it out for you.
The TD CANADA TRUST are very familiar with Pay Pal and know exactly what is needed, guessing what you should put where can only cause undo delay.
As for the number of digits that are required for each category branch, transit, account the number that Pay Pal says is the MAXIMUM number you are able to put in, if yours has less then the MAXIMUM required, and as long as it is what the bank has provided to you, input those provided numbers and you will not have any problems whatsoever.
But remember to be sure to have the correct information, visit your branch and ask for it.
Better safe then delayed by a guess.
