Is it possible to add another account (USD) to my paypal even though I live in Canada and the USD account is registered in a canadian bank (RBC)? I tried but there is a message saying it has to be a CDN account, is that so? Please help. Thanks.

I am trying to do this as well, and I keep getting an error.

I have a USD Savings Account with RBC located in Canada.  I would like to transfer USD funds from my PayPal account directly to my RBC USD Savings Account (Canadian branch).

I am also looking to do the same . . . US paypal dollars to a USD account in Canada.

I am looking to do this since I can get a better conversion rate thru my bank than Paypal is offering.

Hoping for a solution soon . . .

I am going to get a US credit card from the TD bank.  This may be the easiest cheapest way to use paypal.

Or I will just use the us credit card

country: USA
routing number: 026004093
bank name: Royal Bank of Canada
account number: the full number that appears on internet banking for the account, which includes the bank transit number

**acount number should be 0*****4******     (transit+account#)

all e-Saveings accounts start with

The routing number is for New York City RBC, dont use the routing number that RBC in Canada gives you as it won't work. All clearing has to be done by a US Bank, which is why it is NYC.

This works only with a RBC USD$ e-Savings account. The transfer is only from PayPal to RBC. If you with to fund PayPal with US$ then open an RBC Access USA account.

EDIT: you cannot add CIBC, ScotiaBank or TD e-Savings USD accounts from Canada.

And why is that?  I had the same question??  I also have a TD US FUNDS account and I do not understand why i cannot link my account.  I am able to link my TD CANADIAN FUNDS account and you are easily able to take those funds.  Why is this not possible if I change my account to be the US FUNDS account as my primary.  The reason I consider this a major issue is how you calculate the exchange rate.  For instance, today I paid my eBay purchases and you used .95 as the exchange rate when in fact the current exchange rate at that time was .98.  This is simply another way to get more money from Canadian users of your services.  If it came straight from my US FUNDS account you could not charge the arbitrary exchange rate that never seems to reflect the current rate at the time.  We loose each time we pay with Canadian Funds.  And switching banks is not a viable option.  Is it PayPal or TD BANK that are not cooperating?

RBC works for one way transfers from PayPay to account. You will find no specific answers why your TD or Scotiabank will not work. You can open a TD Bank US account that is physically in the USA and link to PayPay, but is not as seamless as RBC Access USA. Just open USD e-savings account and same time open an Access USA account.

Here is another prime example of something not right.  I just paid for my purchases and PayPal gave me .96485 for an exchange rate.  The current exchange rate happens to be .99045.  Wonder where the extra .09 exchange rate is going on every Canadian Dollar that is used to pay for goods & services through PayPal?
